MR. Deshmane

History :

A 38-year-old gentelman came to Best Spine Surgeons in Pune Dr. Sangram Rajale with a problem of back pain for a month. The pain was geting worse when lying down. He also found it hard to turn in bed, especially when moving. He had on and off fever for a month, and also lost weight and lost appetite during this time.

These symptoms suggest TB Spine also known as Pott’s spine, which is a type of spinal tuberculosis. The pain getting worse when lying down, difficulty moving in bed, fever, weight loss, and diabetes can all be connected to this condition.

MRI :

The patient had findings such as forward stooping gait, local kyphosis, spine tenderness, severe pain exacerbated by movements and standing, and positive PSMS correlated well with the MRI report’s depiction of severe destructive changes, an active infectious process, spinal cord compression, and the presence of an abscess at the L1-L2 level.

These findings collectively supported the diagnosis of Pott’s spine with an abscess in the patient’s case. Severe destructive changes involving the L1 and L2 vertebral bodies. Well-defined abscess in the paraspinal region at the L1-L2 level.

Operation :

Dr. Sangram Rajale Top Spine Infection doctor in Pune, performed surgery on January 24, 2023, to address a spinal infection, relieve spinal cord pressure with a laminectomy at L1, and stabilize the spine using implants. The surgery was done to address spinal infection (indicated by pus drainage and debridement), relieve pressure on the spinal cord (laminectomy), and stabilize the spine (posterior spinal fixation) using implants.

After Discharge :

After the surgery, the patient improved a lot and had a smooth recovery. They were moved to a regular hospital bed immediately after the surgery. By the second day, their pain had reduced by about 80%. We helped them start walking on the third day, and they were able to climb stairs by day four. The patient was discharged on the fourth day and asked to come back after 15 days to remove the stitches.

One month after the surgery, Spine Specialist Doctor in Pune Dr. Sangram Rajale noted on X-ray that the implants were positioned excellently. Around six months later, the patient was completely free of pain, and the X-ray showed that the bones were fusing together well.
